Hi guys,

just a quick question, can somebody confirm how to send back the KCC forms. Apparently this should not be done by registered email as they dont like to sign off papers. Should we send it by mormal mail ?

But what if the enveloppe gets lost ?

Thanks for your advice

greetings
Jo

Hi Jo,

I sent mine back by courier.

It costs more than regular mail but I was able to not only track my package online but also receive confirmation that my forms arrived at KCC.

It's not essential, but I'd recommend you use a courier service if you'd like piece of mind that your forms will definitely arrive.

Congratulations on your selection!

Thanks !

Thanks for the info !!! Congratulations to you too :D:)

As I see you already sent your forms, maybe you can advise me on a couple of small things.

-There is a question 3. asking for our name but only in native alphabet, do we put N/A there as our alphabet is the normal one our do we need to mark our full name agin in capital letter or small letters.

- Do you need to mark the photographs on their back (name ...)

- Under DSP-102 they ask again in question 7 for jobs that need specific training (minimum 2 years). Is it safe to answer no as we dont know if my wifes jobs are qualifying for that requirement. not that it is contradictory to the question on the other form where we need to list all work experience of latst 10 years.

- just double check but the petitioner is the winner, so my wife right ? (form dsp-122)

Thankssss for your help:cool:

Just follow the instruction carefuly.

Name in native alphabeth usually if you have a name other than a roman alphabet, like Chinese/Japanese Kanji, Russian, etc. If not, just put N/A

According to the KCC instruction letter. It doesn't mention anything about putting name on the back of the photograph (I didn't). I know in the past they would ask you to put your name on the back of the photgraphs when you filling out visa forms, but apparently they don't ask this anymore. Dont quote me on this...

The safest way is just to be qualified with educational background (min High School). Don't ask to be qualified based on job experience unless you absolutely sure that your wife has the qualified job. I read from the other forum, somone got a hard time during the inteview because He wanted to be qualifed based on his job and not his education, eventhough He has the required education. He said that the interview took longer because the interviewer has to check if His job is in the list of approved occupation.

The petitioner should be the person who won the lottery. In this case, your wife

That's a waste of money, IMO. I send a regular USPS priority mail, and could track it online, and got a confirmation. Four bucks for everything, including a free pick up.

masematn,

You mention in your sig that you Infopass at USCIS office. May I know what it is for? I'm wondering if I need to do that too.

USPS mail is good when you need a proof of filing by a certain date (like a tax return for IRS purposes; you do not really care if your tax return is delivered, what is important that you filed it on time), not a 100% delivery.
If you use USPS, be sure to refile in case you do not receive return receipt.

If you need 100% delivery, use courier mail.

Hi jsalien24,

Thank you for your congratulations. My wife & I are very excited!

Hopefully this will help you:

-There is a question 3. asking for our name but only in native alphabet, do we put N/A there as our alphabet is the normal one our do we need to mark our full name agin in capital letter or small letters.
You don't need to write your name again if you already wrote it in capital letters in English. Just write N/A.

- Do you need to mark the photographs on their back (name ...)
As mentioned earlier, I don't think this is required but I like to be extra safe. So I wrote my Case Number on the back at the top of both photos (my wife's and mine) and the full name of person who's photo it is too.

- Under DSP-102 they ask again in question 7 for jobs that need specific training (minimum 2 years). You only need to qualify for the Diversity Lottery Visa on the grounds of at least a full high school education. Does your wife have this and documentation to prove this? I have also worked for many years in a job that qualifies so I thought I'd include that information as well as my high school education (although judging by Gerindo's reply, I hope this was not a mistake).

If you would like to know if your wife's job qualifies for the work experience requirement, go to the Department of Labor’s O*Net OnLine database:

O*Net Online Database

To qualify for a Diversity Visa on the basis of her work experience, she must, within the past five years, have two years of experience in an occupation that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) range of 7.0 or higher.

- just double check but the petitioner is the winner, so my wife right ? (form dsp-122)
The petitioner is the person who was selected in the lottery. So yes, this would be your wife.

Good luck with everything, let us know how you go!

Dave.

Hi Dave

My God, the more I keep the forms the more I get scared, every day I read smth else on the forum, so I am afraid I will sent it out and afterwards you risk a mistake... pffff they are strixt ok but how strict, I am at a stage that I am seeing mistakes everywhere and maybe my form is all OK.

I think of donwloading the forms and redo them before sending them, is this safe to do or are they unique those forms. What is official site to download them...

For my wife they ask for education and schools to list everything on form ds-230 but only with the city of the school. In DSP-102 they ask to list again but then they ask for address. Does this mean you need to state full address of school on form dsp-102 or can you just put the city of the school.

When I look at my forms the answering blocks are not big so it gets stuffed pretty easily. Did you use an extra paper to fill out some question eg work experience or education as it is almost impossible to squeeze everything in the small boxes.

Thanks for your help !!!

I see that you sent your forms back from within the U.S., I probably would have also used this option if mailing the forms back domestically if that service offered proof of delivery.

However, I mailed mine back from Australia so I used Australia Post's 'Express Courier International' service which provided online live tracking all the way to KCC along with a confirmation email from USPS upon delivery which included the signature of an official from KCC upon receipt of the package.

I was more than willing to pay about 35USD for this piece of mind.

You can download the forms from the US Department of State official website:

Travel.State.Gov

I used the autofill option on these forms as my handwriting is atrocious.

Please don't forget to write your case number on the top right corner of EVERY PAGE of your forms.

I hope somebody can give you the correct answer for this as I'm not 100% sure that what I have done is right. But what I did was this for both forms:

NAME OF SCHOOL, CITY, COUNTRY

When I look at my forms the answering blocks are not big so it gets stuffed pretty easily. Did you use an extra paper to fill out some question eg work experience or education as it is almost impossible to squeeze everything in the small boxes.
On my form DS-230, I needed more space than was available on Question 25: Previous visits to the United States. However, this was not due to lack of writing space but there were not enough rows (3 are provided, I have visited the U.S. 5 times). So I wrote "SEE ATTACHED PAGE" on the first line of that question and attached a separate sheet titled with the same question (word-for-word) and listed all my visits on that sheet exactly as they would have appeared on the form.

I'm not sure if you could do the same thing for questions where there is simply not enough writing space, although this instruction is at the beginning of the form:

If there is insufficient room on the form, answer on a separate sheet using the same numbers that appear on the form. Attach any additional sheets to this form.

Does anyone know the correct answer to this one?

masematn, You mention in your sig that you Infopass at USCIS office. May I know what it is for? I'm wondering if I need to do that too.

I decided to follow the instructions from my NL. It was mentioned there that I need to make sure that I am eligible for AOS, and if so, bring everything to the local office and do what they tell. I tried to call the USCIS first, but was told that they cannot answer my question about eligibility by phone, only through Infopass. The other reason was more out of curiosity: to look at them, to see whom I am dealing with, and so on. I do not think it is a must for you or for anybody else. I would probably not go if it was not within an hour drive from my home.

I am winner of DV 2009 P.A., In my DS-230 Form Part II, I put my name as petitioner, but in other family members, I consider each person as a petitioner in his/her own separate DS-230 Form, by the way is it a big thing or it may affect, in case the name of the petitioner written in the form of the accompanying this or that?

Downloadable forms

Hi again,

quick question on that, in case you would use the downloadable forms from the website are they also OK to send over to KCC. Or does it have to be the original ones KCC sent over.

I printed out the downloadable ones but it turns out the A4 paper size here in europe is a bit bigger then the US ones. Can I risk to use my own prints or are they so strict to only allow the original ones.

Moreover Id like to fill the forms out again using the pc as my handwriting is not super precise so then you are obliged to use the website ones.

thanks

Hi Jo,

Once again, I hope I'm not giving you the wrong advice and you may wish to clarify everything I say with others who know better. But this is what I have done with my KCC forms.

quick question on that, in case you would use the downloadable forms from the website are they also OK to send over to KCC. Or does it have to be the original ones KCC sent over.
I sent the downloadable forms back to the KCC, not the original files they sent to me.

I printed out the downloadable ones but it turns out the A4 paper size here in europe is a bit bigger then the US ones. Can I risk to use my own prints or are they so strict to only allow the original ones.
I have to admit that I have an unfair advantage here as I am a graphic designer with access to a duplex capable A3 sized printer. Therefore, I was able to print the forms out at A3 size double sided with trim marks and then trim them down to US Letter size (8.5" x 11") so they appear exactly the same as the original KCC forms sent out to me.

Please do not forget to include your Case Number on the top right hand corner of each page of the forms. I managed to do this on the forms electronically before printing them out.

I'm sure I have read somewhere on this forum before that KCC have become more lenient than in the past and are now accepting downloaded forms that are printed single sided at A4 size. But once again, please do not go on my word alone, is there anyone who can confirm this?

Moreover Id like to fill the forms out again using the pc as my handwriting is not super precise so then you are obliged to use the website ones.
Personally, and as I mentioned earlier, I prefer to use the autofill option provided with the Adobe Acrobat PDF forms downloaded from the official site not only because my handwriting is terrible, but also as I could easily save the files on my PC and print out extra copies.

If you are not going to use the original forms sent to you, then the only forms you should use are the forms downloaded from the official website.

I hope this helps, feel free to PM me if you need anything else.

Dave.

We used downloaded forms printed A4 single sided, and hand wrote the case number on each page (top right hand side) with no problems at all.
