Thanks for the reply. Could you please help with a few questions?

- Do you know what triggers your transfer?
- What did you bring to the interview?
- What questions did they ask?
- Did you have a lawyer with you?

?

- Do you know what triggers your transfer?
Hard to tell. Could be anything. BC, EVL, etc. But she only asked for the EVL and the medical form for my son, which was missing in his file. I had to go back to the doctor and get a duplicate of that form selaed in an envelope.
- What did you bring to the interview?
Pretty much everything that is listed on the interview letter. Don't leave behind anything.
- What questions did they ask?
She just repeated some of the questions on the I-485 form and asked us to answer under oath.
- Did you have a lawyer with you
No, I don't think a lawyer is really needed. The lawyers are not allowed to speak there. They are mere observers.

Hi xingfucun,
I received a letter from Nebraska center last week that My case was transfered to KC local office. Could you please help me with some questions?
1, How long did you receive your interview letter from KC local office after receiving the transfer notice?
2. Will you bring your attorney with you for the interview? Do you know any good attorney at KC area?
3. My EAD will expire in March, do you think it is a good idea to renew it now? will it cause delay for interview?
4. The online processing time posted by KC local office on 1/14/05 is 8/31/04. Does that mean I will need to wait for 5-6 months?

Thank you.

My case is transferred on 12/20/04 and the notice date for interview scheduled is 12/30/04. It is pretty fast.
We will bring attorney. But people say it is not necessary. The attorney is hired by the company. Sorry, I don't have any recommendation for attorney.
My EAD will expire in April. But the attorney told me to wait after the interview to renew it.
I have no idea about the processing time of the local office.

Good luck to you :)

Hi xingfucun,

1. Did you interview at same time with your spouse together or seperate one by one?
2. What kind of questions did the officer ask during the interview?
3. Was the officer at kC local office friendly?
4. Do you think the lawyer helps a lot?
5. Did you take your children with you?

Any thoughts, any experience sharing is highly appreciated from you.

you can also email me at rock_marble@yahoo.com.

Hi rockclay

I had the interview on 2/24/05. It was quick and easy. The officer said they need to mail the approval letter later. Here are some info:

1. Did you interview at same time with your spouse together or seperate one by one?
We went in together.

2. What kind of questions did the officer ask during the interview?
Only a few questions:
Where do u work?
Three questions from the 485 application regarding criminal record (Yes/No questions)
Do you have kid? Born in US?
Where did you meet?
Is this your first time applying for permanent residency?
What did you study in school?

And the officer took a copy of kid's birth certificate and joint tax return.

3. Was the officer at kC local office friendly?
The one we have is very serious, but not harsh.

4. Do you think the lawyer helps a lot?
We are supposed to do our own talking. Though having a lawyer there somehow made us feel more comfortable. But the lawyer is not a must-have.

5. Did you take your children with you?
No, since our baby is born in US.

Hope these help. Good luck to you!

Congrats! And thanks very much post posting details about your experience.
Can you please advise on..
1. Did the officer stamp your passport right after the interview?
2. Did the officer ask the questions to both of you and your spouse at same time or ask question seperately? (What I mean is did the officer repeat the question to your spouse after your interview?)

thanks and enjoy your freedom in U.S.
