Hello guys,

I will appreciate it if someone who recently did interview and oath in Kansas city area respond and please share his/her experience here so that I can have a clearer view of what to expect and be better prepared.

Thanks once again for your help

John

I guess there seems to be no one from Kansas City who recently did their citizenship that I can draw from their experience. The fun of filing from a small city or so to say :o:rolleyes:

Yep...small cities have big advantages, small number of applicants, small number of people who have experienced the immigration process from there. I suspect your N400 is the only game in town in KS...:D

Downside is, lesser number of ceremonies and more infrequent :)

He is not the only one. I am also in queue, waiting for IL after completing FP. I was thinking any one responding to John's post would help me also. But looks like we have to be our own. I at least have advantage to hear from John's experience :D:D

You are right. I just want to hear some experience as to what oath is. There is another gentleman on this post who is also from Kansas City who filed in August. His interview date is Nov 11, I think. So we can get some idea from him as to what to expect. I live in Kansas and I am hoping that I do not get to do oath in Kansas City because there is only one oath left after my interview this year in Kansas City and I do not want to wait :) I really will not mind going to Wichita for my oath if it will mean faster oath date.

I recently did an interview in the KC area here is my experience:

Thank you so much for sharing your exerience. Can you please let me know when your oath date is and please specify is you live in Kansas or Missouri. This is because Kansas city handles interview for some counties in both Kansas and Missouri. I want to clarify if the same district court handles the oath since the Kansas City USCIS office does not conduct oath ceremonies.

Thanks once again.

Hi John - Where did you find out that there is only one oath left in Kansas City for this year. Is there any web site where they publish oath schedule ?? Is it possible to ask for oath at Wichita if they have more oaths scheduled this year. Since I live in Kansas within 50 miles of Kansas City DO, I am not sure whether I will be even having that option available as Wichita is over 150 miles from my place. I think USCIS must be having some criteria of allocating DO for FP and location for oath. Any ideas on that.

Thanks.

Here is the link: http://www.mow.uscourts.gov/naturalization.html you will see that there are two oath ceremonies left this year but only one left after our interview. I also live in Kansas and I definitely will ask if they can schdule interview for me at Wichita because I dont want to wait for Kansas City especially if the last one in the year is all booked or something. I am still researching it so I will let you know what my findings are but I have confirmed that the USCIS Kansas City office where we did our FP does not conduct oath ceremonies.

Hi JohnZ07 - Thanks for sharing your experience of interview at KS DO. Do you have your oath scheduled at Kansas City Courthouse or some where else. I have got this link for oath schedule of Kansas City and it does not list any oath for 10/30/09 (http://www.mow.uscourts.gov/naturalization.html). I want to know whether oaths are performed at other centers also other than Kansas City. Thanks and Good luck.

^ I will double check and update this thread but im 99% certain it is in Kansas City, Kansas and not in Missouri.

Thanks for sharing with us John. Sunk, from what I understand, we are not going to do Oath in Missouri. From what I gathered so far, the location we live in Kansas put us in the USCIS DO in Kansas City, MO and thats why we did our FP and will do our interview there. As far as oath is concerned, the state where we live is where the oath is conducted.

I learnt that oath is conducted in, Kansas City, KS, Topeka and Wichita Federal Courts. From where we live, there is a huge chance that we get to do the Oath in Kansas City, Kansas and not Topeka or Wichita and definitely not Kansas City, MO so you can ignore the schedule on the link I gave you.

See below the response I got from Wichita and Kansas respectively as to schedules:

There is one more ceremony scheduled for 2009 in Wichita, and that date is November 20. The tentative dates for 2010 (Wichita location) are set as follows: January 22, March 19, May 28, July 23, September 24, and November 19. Please be aware that the 2010 Wichita dates are tentative only, and subject to change without notice. In addition to the Wichita ceremonies, ceremonies will be conducted in Kansas City on November 20 and December 18, and in Topeka on November 20, 2009. 2010 dates have not yet been set for locations other than Wichita.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You have inquired about Naturalization Ceremonies conducted in Kansas City, Kansas. We have three ceremonies scheduled for the remainder of 2009 and they are as follows: October 30, 2009; November 20, 2009 and December 18,
2009 all beginning at 1:30PM. Although the ceremonies are conducted at our courthouse, the Immigration & Naturalization Office decides who will be naturalized at these programs.

Let me know if this is clear.

John

Good luck John. After done, please share your interview experience to help other filers of Kansas City DO.

Hey John,

Thanks for sharing this info. My interview is on Monday (23rd), I hope they give me the Dec 20th oath date.

Please do share your experience and let us know if they allow you to pick an oath date.

BTW, I think they conduct oath ceremonies in Lawrence (somewhere in the KU campus) as well. How did you get this information?
