K-1 vs K-3 - which? how? HELP please!

I am a U.S. Citizen and my fiance is here in the U.S. in tourist visa for 6 months.

1) Is there such thing as adjustment of status from tourist visa to K-1 or K-3, that way he doesn't have to go back to his native land?
2) Which is faster and less hassle to file?

Please help!
 
A1: AOS is for adjusting one's status to permanent residency. K-1 and K-3 are different beasts.
A2: That depends on a number of variables.

Will it affect his K-1 visa application if we file for it while he's in the US legally (unexpired toursit visa)?

Yes- I went back to my home country.
I actually went back roughly 1/3 of the way through the process as thats when my VWP expired and I also had to return to work (I was a teacher).
