just spoke to an iio

after waiting for 40 min on hold....the voice quickly says before i can say hi..."i can't help you as our computer system is down"

i don't know wether to laugh or not...i just sigh,

she says "sorry, you'll have to call back tomorrow, unless there is a simple question, i can't check the status of your case"

so i say to her "well then, has csc started approving and sending out approval notices for 485's yet, as the other service centers have and it appears that just csc is not." she says "yes, i believe last week they started, let me check", comes back quickly and says "yes they started mailing them out last week"

she says "i know there is a huge backlog" and i say "we haven't seen anything but the other centers approvals, do you know if they are sending out a lot or a trickle", she laughs and says "oh it's a trickle, have you ever known the government to do anything properly?"

I laugh and at least compliment her on her pragmatic view.

end of call.

so let's see what happens

Seeing one approval last week and the IIO confirming the mailing of approvals makes me a little happy.
Hopefully we will start seeing some approvals in the forum.

Looks like INS has only one phone line...

Gettingclosernow,

Thanks for the interesting post. Your post was interesting, if not the news.

Jay,

Your link has nothing contradictory to what Gettingclosernow posted.

I just spoke to IIO on my case and he said it was assigned to an Officer this morning. I do not know How far that is true....

phoned back again....this time their system must be up. my case isn't assigned yet 02-076, she gave the standard iio answer, she said "they are currently processing..." you could hear her reach for the JIT processing times sheet, you could actually hear her rustle the paper, "they are currently processing 11/16/2001"

I asked an approximate time she indicated that she would only be guessing and but with the backlog and all for me to try back in 6-8 weeks.

thewho,
I hope second note from Gettingclosernow will be enough to contradict the first statement.

let me know if you need more ,I have lots of followups...

Thats better than my news, I faxed INS on the pretext of expiring FPs, and INS faxed back saying 10-18-01. What are your dates robket?

Mine is wac-02-001-5xxxx

The receipt date was October 1st 2001. I completed FP on April 3rd 2002 at oakland. Had a standard RFE about tax returns and employment verification. RFE answers received by INS on August 26 2002.

being on hold on phone...

I was on hold for 2 hrs and 40 mins last week when I called INS. I could not hold on for more time and hung up. I started calling at 9.55 am (EST) which is 6.55am(CST). I couldn't get through until 10.04am(EST) which is 7.04am (CST) and even then I was on hold for approx. 2 hrs and 40 mins. Did anyone has such an experience??

*SIGH* and my WAC number is 03-001-5XXX, exactly one year behind you and you guys are still not out of the queue! :( It is going to be a LONG wait I can tell.

I also talked to an IIO couple of days ago. She told me that the case is assigned "yesterday". INS replied to my earlier fax inquiry stating that "your case is assigned to an officer on Nov 20 2002". This time the IIO told me that officer xxxx picked up the case "yesterday".

140_takes_4ever,

You could change your handle to 485_takes_4ever, which would be more contextual. Anyway, out of mere curiosity, how long did your I-140 take?

Finally got thru to speak to a iio. ( Last week I'd to hold for more than 2 hours and still not get someone) ; She says that my application is not assigned yet, but will be taken "as soon as new files are taken from the stack, since they are processing applications filed around my date " That "very soon" is anybody's guess :-(
