Marriage to a citizen.

Sessanga,

Best of luck to you. I don't think you will have any problems..but just the wait times etc for Name checking etc usually takes time.

Oh! I thought he was just a "plain" asylee like us! I was hoping he found a loopwhole that let an asylee become in less than 4 yrs and 9 months!!

It is about luck. It is crazy to see the results for different people, doesn't matter if a woman or a man. I have a friend (dude)at school who got his in 5 months and I have a lady co-worker who has it still pending after 9 months. The filed to the same location in CA and both almost at the same time. One from South America and the other from Europe.
So depends on your luck, it may takes quite a while or nothing.

Good Luck

My application was approved on 10/08/04,the GC was backdated 08/10/03, eligible to file N400 05/08 based on asylum, but decided to file 1 yr & 3 months earlier since am married to a US citizen which really doesn`t make that much of a difference.

On your time line, you had said that your card was ordered in 05 so I assumed you got approved in 05. And backdated 1 year that gives you 04 and five years from 04 would be 2009. That's why I thought you found a loopwhole. Well in your case, either way (through marriage or asylum), it would have been almost the same. Good luck!

How come you can be eligible to file N400 if your GC dated at 08/10/03 if you based on asylum? The 4 year citizenship is not law yet.

People married to citizens receive a special dispensation.

If there were a loophole it would have been mined before now.

When was the date of marriage? On the N-400 application it says you have to be married for at least three years to the same person for the 3 year permenant residency to apply.

Hi everyone, I have a question...

My wife got the GC one year earlier than I did since I was stuck in the name check. So, in theory, I will be one year later then her to apply the citizenship. I am wondering, can I apply citizenship immediately after she gets the citizenship so I won't wait one more years? Anyone know the answer?

No. The spouse needs to have been a citizen for the entire 3 year period.
