Job change on H1 and 3 years

Hi
I am working with company A currently and my H1B is expiring on may 31 2006 (end of first 3 years on H1).
I am in process of changing job and company B will be filing h1 petition. My question is how is 3 years period counted. Can I get a new approval for 3 years from the date of filing or the approval will be only upto may 31, 2006. Please help

------------- it depends upon the employer or his lawyer and LCA. if the LCA is asked for 3 years and employer/lawyer ask for 3 years you will get 3 years( many lawyers ask for less time so that they can get the fees again for H1 extension filing)
