Job change after GC

Gurus need some advice.

I got my GC on 11th Jan'08. I have been with the sponsoring employer afor more than 10 years. Of which I have been with them here in the US for more than 6 years.

Now they got me a project outside the place where I have been living for the last 3 years. My company is paying me the same salary and asking me to realocate. Since my wife is working she cannot realocate. It is becoming very difficult for me to maintain 2 establishments+airfare etc. If my wife relocates our family income will be cut by half.

This Friday I complete 3 months of getting the GC. What should I do. My company is not giving a letter also stating that I have been realocated.

I know 3 months are 2 short, but what should I do?

What docs. do I need to keep a copy of in order to prove my intent during the time of citizenship?

I have got copies of emails stating the reservation has been booked etc.

Thanks & regards,
Still

How do you know three months are short, how about 10 years?
This topic has been discussed ad nauseum, even experinced lawyers has no correct answer to this.
But then some people prefer to remain as slaves for all their lives.

You're not going to get anybody telling you it is perfectly safe to change jobs at this time and being able to back it up with link to legislation or a court case or USCIS memo. There are a thousand threads on this topic, all concluding that it is a gray area.

When did you file I-485? The longer ago, the better.

But suppose we told you that if you changed jobs now you will never get citizenship. Is that going to make you keep the job under these adverse circumstances? Probably not. You're not going to spend a lot of money to relocate and cut your household income in half just to improve your chances of getting citizenship. So go ahead and do it and whatever happens, happens. If you get harassed about it in the citizenship interview, defend yourself with various points: you worked for them in the US for 6 years, you worked for them after filing the I-485 for X number of months or years, they decided to relocate you and it would have been too costly for you and your wife.

Or you can wait until 6 years or more to naturalize, by which time they would be less likely to care about your employment right after the green card (although they can decide to ask about it anyway), as the primary concern is the most recent 5 years of employment prior to applying (only those latest 5 years are asked for on the N-400).

Doesn't AC-21 make this entirely moot. You are legally allowed to switch from sponsoring employer before getting green card. Would it not be stupid for them to ask why you changed employment.

From a leagl point of view AC21 only covers sponsorship changes BEFORE getting GC, not after.
