Hi Jaxen,

I appreciate all your input to help your fellow immigrants. I want to ask you a question concerning EAD.

First, my EAD is scheduled to expire on 2/24/04. When do you think I should start the renewal process so that I can work for my employer without having to take a leave of absence?

Also, in one of the threads, you indicated that one would need a receipt of I-485 and the receipt stub of EAD. Unfortunately, I did not receive a receipt for I-485 from Nebraska. What should I send in instead? Please advise.

-------- You should apply 4 -6 months advance

---- the base of EAD is pending I-485, how you will prove that your AOS is pending? Ask your lawyer he might have received I-485 receipt or talk to NCSC on phone provide your filing date, complete name and DOB and your A# from the EAD they may reply you what to do

Thanks

Ginnu -

Thanks for the input. I am going to place a calal to BCIS Customer Service Center and what they can do for me.

When my attorney gets something from BCIS, he would always forward it to me for my review. Since I have not received anything from him, I am going to place a call to him and ask if he got the Notice of Action from BCIS.

I actually posted another message while back, asking if there are others who did not receive the Notice of Action from BCIS on I-485. There were few people who did not receive it. If any of you are reading this, please post your experience with EAD renewal and tell me how it went.

A million thanks to Ginnu and all others who are reading this post.

Do you know the receipt number of your I485? Check the status online and print it out and use that as the I485 receipt.

Apply now for EAD, in most cases BCIS starts the next EAD from the expiry date of the current one, if you apply early enough.

Thanks Jaxen

Jaxen,

Thanks for your reply. A while ago, Nebraskan advised me to look for my LIN # on the back of the cancelled checked, cashed by BCIS. Sure enough, I found my LIN number there and has been using that number to check on my status ever since.

Also, I follwed Ginnu's advice and called the BCIS Customer Service Center. A customer service representative told me to include a letter and explain why I do not have my Notice of Action and include my LIN number on it.

Now, here is another question for you, Jaxen. I am thinking about applying for my renewal online to save money (I really can't afford paying more $ to my immigration attorney). Now, should I send in my EAD stub from my first EAD, the LIN# letter, and a copy of my current EAD as soon as I register online? Would it be better if I wait until I get my RFE? Please advise.

Thank you again!
