Sometimes recruitment process itself takes couple of weeks

After that you can request that you will join next month. You can get a letter from propective employer stating that the job offer is valid until , take this letter to local INS and ask them nicely (make it look like you really need this job). I am not 100% sure that you will get iEAD but I am 100% sure you will not lose anything by doing all this.
 
Not given iEAD by SanJose INS. Referred to San Francisco office.

I went today to San Jose field office to get the iEAD. Was not given one. The INS officer said the reason is that my home address comes under the jurisdiction of the San Francisco office. I live in Union City, CA. I went to San Jose in the first place because my lawyer made a mistake by suggesting that I go to San Jose office.

SO, before going to get an iEAD, make sure that you check the INS website regarding which is the correct field office for you.

Basically wasted my whole day and came back empty handed! On the bright side, I went pretty late (10:30am) and found the place was not crowded. Got my turn to talk to the officer by 12:30pm. Thank god I did not go at 4:00am in the morning!!
 
Thanks! But what should I say when they ask me what is my

status in America? I only can say that I don\'t have the EAD and how can they believe I will have one soon?

Hi:

I guess you will have to wait for 90 days from the Notice date before you can get the iEAD. There\'s no way (atleast not that I am aware of) to get it before 90 days.

If you get a job offer before that, maybe you can talk to your new employer about working without pay (unofficially) till you get the iEAD.
 
I see. But I am afraid they will turn me down during the

interview if I told them I don\'t have EAD card by now.

Another question, can I still apply for a new H1 with the I-485 pending?

AVM message for my EAD status

"On May 8th 2002 after approving your application, we ordered you a
 new card. Processing normally takes between 120 and 140 days. Your
 card will be mailed to you as soon it is ready. "

 What does message mean?

I guess you have given the wrong wac number to the AVM. It looke like the message you got is for some guy who have their card renew.

For EAD, message changes twice. Once to say card is ordered, and once the card is mailed it changes to "Case approved". You should get your EAD within app. a week\'s time.

What\'s the 120 day mean?

You mean I can fax to inquiry FP for after 120 days?

My ND is at the end of Jan. I will be waiting for the "120 days" if so.
