January 2002 RD - The Optimistics

received receipts for 485,EAD and AP.

RD 2/1/02, ND 2/8/02, waiting for EAD/ap.
my h1 expires in Oct or Nov (up 6 year), is it beneficial to save the remainder of H1 and convert into
EAD or just stay on H1, can anybody suggest on this? I am thinking of changing into EAD after i get
it and just save few months of H1 out of 6 year max.

Well,these are my thoughts....

            Few months of you H-1 is not going to save
you if you get laid off within six months of i-485 application.

You need atleast one year time to be able to join a new
employer and re-apply GC if in case the worst thing happens.
Then you can extend your h-1 beyond six years.
 
I got receipts from my lawyer

Indian_gems, i think in either case there is nothing to gain or lose.
but converting to EAD is little bit prudent saving 9-10 months.
and new h1 can be started within days with provision of extension after 8 months, if everything moves fast to start in a new company(may be redundant if you have an EAD which technically you cannot use to another company if in less than 180 days). Do they have 1 year rule for extending H1 beyond 6 year? So everything boils down to 180 days here. within that time with h1 saved you may be able to hang on if worst comes. hmmmm.... this is confusing! i don\'t know what i wrote here. any more thougts?

YES SIR !!

You should have applied green card ONE YEAR prior to
the expiration of six years period to be elligible
for h-1 extension ,which is again done year by year.

I am going to file I-485 application next week. I just got my medical from doctor. One thing I noticed that he didn\'t do X-ray and he did not write any thing in X-ray section.

Can you guys share your experience with me. Did you guys submited your X-ray report also.

I would really appreciate your reply.

ead received yesterday. badsha if you have skin test -ve then

you don\'t need x-ray. 8-10mm and lower in diameter skin test
don\'t need xray. look under tuberculosis test. must be not reactive etc.

I looked at that section and "not reactive" check box is checked. So I think I don\'t need x-rays.
