J1 Waiver Help Please

Hi,

I am on J1 Visa. I have my DS2019 form for 12 months. Its almost 7 months over. I wanted to apply for J1 Waiver I have all my waiver papers ready with me including DOS Case No. Can I apply for waiver now are should i need to wait till I extend for another 6 months and then I apply for waiver.

Please help me. please some suggestions.

Yes I do. I wanted this information for my friend who is also in J1 visa.

don't have info on that. Never extended J-1 status. He needs to research www.travel.state.gov and the regulations pertaining to extending status on J1.

I came to US in Sep 04 on J1. My employer wants to apply for my Green Card. Can I apply for GC now, cas I am in the country for past 8 months. Or should I apply for H1b 1st .

yes, an employer can apply for your GC right away, no H1 is necessary.

Hey LucyMO,

That's confusing. If it is allowed to get GC straight from J1, why would ppl ever need a HB1? Or are you saying that this is only possible for those who do not have the HRR on their J1?
