J 1 waiver processing for asylum approved case

I am just wondering whether I need to file a separate form for J 1 waiver .I have been granted asylum a year ago. Do I need to file this waiver form or the approval of asylum itself nullifies my requirement to go back for two years.Any comment will be highly appreciated.

Dear Chien:

No need to do anything if you got Asylum approval. I am the same case. I got G/C two days ago. You are fine already. Good luck!

Are you sure? I had talked to one of the lawyer. He told me that I need to apply for J waiver separately, but it doesn't make any sense as it should automatically waive . I feel so much confused.

I am not sure how someone can be more sure than by having the expirience. Cory2 has indicated that he had the same process and he got his Green Card 2 days ago.

I think if you feel uncertain you should go ahead with your lawyer's opinion. Remember these are just opinions its remains your choice as what to do.

Yes, I am sure. The law says this in plain English.

Pursuant to 8 CFR 209(2)(b):

An applicant for adjustment who has had the status of an exchange alien nonimmigrant under section 101(a)(15)(J) of the Act, and who is subject to the foreign resident requirement of section 212(e) of the Act, shall be eligible for adjustment without regard to the foreign residence requirement.

This is an easy question to answer.

You need to talk to a new lawyer.

We should all hire THANKFUL to be our attorney.
You are very well informed my friend.

I was on a J1 too and there is no need for a waiver.
