is unemployment public charge?

hi,

i just got laid off last week and I've applied for unemployment benefits

i've been reading for the past few days about what is considered public charge and there seem to be different opinions,

but all agree that unemployment is not a public charge but is not 100% sure that it will not negatively interfere with the 485 application. i intend to apply next week through my husband who will become a citizen in a few days.

please share your experiences if you were ever in this position.

no. Unemployment benefits are a type of insurance, which your ex-employer makes payments for while you work for them.

i was thinking that maybe for gc applicants is different
