----- if your employement based I-485 is pending with service center you need to file for AP with same service center. VSC is fast at this time

I don't know why ginnu answered your query for AP with information about EAD, but the reponse to your REAL question is:

--- You can get an AP on same day or in a few days if you have a genuine emergency. You can walk i to the closest INS center and request this emergency AP. In all other cases you have to apply for AP from the service center where your I-485 is pending. It usually takes 2-4 months depending on the speed of the service center. Usually paper filing is considered faster than online filing.

And, could i be done in Vancouver, Canada?
-- I don't think so, but you can check with the US consulate. However if you are in Vancouver, someone could file for you from US and have it deleverd to you in Canada. Check the new AP form it has an option which allows AP to be
deleverd to a US consulate abroad and applicant can collect from there.

-----That is NOT for AP it is for reentry permit, whenLPR files Reentry permit with forI-131 he has the option to pick up the rentry permit from consulate AND LPR also need to file RENTREY PERMIT before departing US

unitednations,
Maybe my posts made your misunderstanding.
The fact is I used my EAD work for another employer last month, so I guess my H-1 is automatically invalid, actually my original employer didn't cancel my H-1, my wife is in Canada with valid H-4 now which will expire on Next month, and she also got FP notice on next month.
I think, since I used my EAD, so my H-1 is invalid (even though my original employer didn't cancel my H-1), my wife can come back to US to do her FP with her H-4 (so far it's still valid).
But she still need go back to Canada for two weeks for something, so that's what I want anyway to get a the-same-day AP for her.

Thanks a lot.

ginnu,
I did a web search, some websites said the same-day AP cannot be issued any more since Nov, 2002.

Is it true?

Thanks.

Since you are not in H-1 status anymore, on what grounds do you believe your wife qualifies for an H-4? The odds of this being discovered are low, but she cannot re-enter on the H-4.

She is also ineligible to get AP since she is outside the US.

TheRealCanadian,
I think you are right. That's my doubt, I used my EAD card to work for another employer, though My H-1 is not cancelled.
If she cannot use H-4, and she cannot apply AP, but how about she come to U.S by Travel visa?

Thanks.
