Is there any bad consequence if one decides to withdraw an N-400 application

If one begins an N-400 application but later decides to withdraw it and just stay as a green card holder, is there any negative consequence? (*Why* one would want to withdraw is another, long story, but suffice it to say that it is not because of a "problem" or anything negative). Thanks.

It will mean that time and money have been wasted--there is no refund. An industrious Officer might look at your background a little bit to see if there is any red flag issue. If as you say there is no "problem" then there will be nothing for them to find if they look.

Some folks change their mind for financial reasons such as learning of the unanticipated loss of national medical coverage or old age pensions in the country of origin.
