Is there an advantage to have a lawyer during Citizenship interview?

I have my Citizenship interview coming in few weeks and I applied by myself without a lawyer since everything was straightforward for me. However is there an advantage to have a lawyer present with me during the interview? Is it possible to have a lawyer at the interview even though I originally applied by myself?

I appreciate the input.

This question has been asked and answered over and over again in this forum.
Simply put, there's no advantage to having a lawyer present for simple cases, but it's always suggested you have one present with more complicated cases.
You can still hire a lawyer to be present at your interview, but if your case is simple you're wasting your money.

I did not have a lawyer. 80% of the people present in interview room did not have lawyer either. If your case is like illegal immigrant becoming legal, refugee etc you definitely need a lawyer. Otherwise dont waste money

what id i have borderline minimum of required residing months? i was studying abroad for 8 month and then 11 month with a proof that i had property and bills and family in US,

i know i am eligible under rules, but it might take time to explain to IO if he questions, should i get a lawyer?

btw i heard that Law student sometimes have volunteering free services like law clinic, has anybody heard of free immigration law support?

If you aren't comfortable explaining to the IO that you were studying abroad and retained your ties by having with the evidence you indicated , then by all means hire a lawyer to be present to explain your situation.

I am usually articulate and can explain things clearly, but I will look for lawyer

on the other hand, if i come with lawyer, i am afraid it will attract negative attention to my case :( i will think about it,

i guess a lot depends on lawyer, it has to be somebody very not agressive, polite, nice and intuitively adaptable.

Having a lawyer present won't attract negative attention. In fact it would better explain your case to the IO if you are unable to.

I have a similar problem. When I apply for citizenship at the end of 2009, I will have been out of the country (studying, with no stay outside lasting longer than 6 months) for only a few days less than the time I will have spent in the country. I'm thinking about a lawyer for that time, but I'll have to get a good job first. Could you keep me posted regarding your case, Feliz-LA?
