WOM is different from 1447b - from what I've heard.
Is there any links or threads for a 101 basics Tutorial on 1447b?

My wife's case is still stuck.
She completed and passed here N-400 interview in the middle of June 2008.
Police clearance letters (in lieu of faint Fingerprints) mailed and received by USCIS third or fourth week of June 2008.

Its been about 2 months after she passed the interview. Two infopasses later, there has been some minor "status progress"...they say wait for 30-60 days...

Come end of October/early November - it will be past 120 days.

I just wanted to find out some background info on 1447b if at all it comes to it (120 days after the interview is over, or atleast 120 days after they received our police clearance letters from us).

Do we need a lawyer if we need to file 1447b?
I hope we dont need to go the 1447b route, but we'll just be prepared.

As much as possible, I'll see if they provide the oath letter without the need for all this. But, just in case.

Thanx Bobsmyth - sorry, I apologize - shud have looked through that.
I had assumed they were talking "WOM" rather than 1447b there.

no worries..there's some good info in that thread..lazycis is the the go to person if you have any specific questions.

I think name check is no longer serious problem since they have 300++ agents working on it. Used to be 60 or so. There are reports of mass progress on those who stuck for long time. I wouldn't worry much since interview was only in Jun '08 and only 2 month passed.

The thread actually has info about suing USCIS. It can be 1447b or mandamus or anything else. The process is the same. I believe Publicus (OP of that thread) went thru 1447b, which is the easiest way with a high probability of success.

You may also check wiki page

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/FBI_name_check

It has step-by step guide and templates for 1447b/WOM for both Natz and AOS. It has info about name check, but the underlying reason for the delay is not that important.
