Is the PR departure recorded?

The DHS inspects the PR enters the US. Does the DHS records the PR departure? If no, how does the CIS verify the exact dates that the PR spent outside of the US when he applies for the naturalization? Does anyone know it?

The airlines provide passenger manifests to DHS, and the Canadians share land border crossing data.

I don't trust DHS to track exits 100%, and by and large things go on trust. However, it only takes one undeclared trip to make them extremely suspicious, and give them grounds to deny the N400.

departures are not recorded by DHS. however, DHS can easily obtain the necessary departure records from airlines and border crossing data. thats why there are cases of people who have obtained visas from a consular post at their home countries, and entered the US with the said visas, even though they have previously overstayed their prior visas and/or have lived illegally in the US.

so, while one may lie to get away with favorable dates for time spent outside the US, please be aware that lying to obtain an immigration benefit is a serious issue. And its very easy for DHS to obtain the necessary information.

When I traveled in Jan 2007, I asked in the airport if I should get a stamp in my passport when departing USA. They told I have to go to a special mashine, a person was near that mashine to help, he somehow introduced my passport data into it and got a receipt for me showing my departure...told this is to keep together with passport to show departures, new procedure...

I do not think everyone does that, my spouse traveled also in Jan on different dates and did not do it.

I planed to travel using my AP next month. But I received a good news that my 485 is approved by emails yesterday. It said the card will mail to me in 30 or 60 days (One email said 60 days, another email said 30 days).

I am not sure if i can receive it before I leave. But I guess I can not use AP or H1B anymore after 485 is approved. Is there any suggestion? Thanks.

You can visit your local DO and explain your urgent travel needs. Perhaps they will stamp your passport. It is worth a shot. Else you will need to wait for your plastic GC.
