is it too late to file H1 extension?

hi, just want your opinion on my case. My I485 is pending and I am worried that due to unavoidable circumstances that my application will be denied.
My question is,is it too late to file H1 extension which in my case will expire in less than a month..Is it alright to file h1 extension before it expire to remain in non immigrant status.Thank you.

------------- your employer can file your H1 extension if your I-94 is not expired. your H1 extension petition must reach USCIS BEFORE your I-94 expires. H1 status is good back up plan if you suspect something wrong will go with I-485.
