I think she has chance if her asylum claim is valid. The excuse for not filing application in the 15 years is good if the conditions in the home country have changed in the past few years...For instance Somalia 15 years ago and now...is totally different so is Afghanistan and other countries...
Hm... not exactly - 15 years ago Poland was almost the same - everything was changed for better in 1985. Now we have democracy, we are in EU - you can travel to most European countries with no passport, you can move to another country, work over there.. Nobody is persecuted or harassed because of religion. So seems like she hasn't filled out the application for 15 years because ... the conditions in her home country have changed for better. Not for worse but for better. Do you think any judge will buy it? I do not think so...

She probably mistakenly took Poland to be Portland. Portland is a city in Maine and also in Oregon. Poland is country located in Eastern Europe.
