Is it possible to reschedule interview date?

Hi all!

I was wondering whether it is possible to reschedule the interview date that is given for you by KCC for consular processing (to a later time I mean).... According to previous years bulletin my case number would become current in Jan/Feb and so I decided to go ahead with CP instead of AOS as I am already a student in the USA under F1 visa and will be back in my country just before January.... Now with the 2010 bulletin that was released, my CN appears to be current in October!! I just sent in all my documents so I'm thinking its going to be a while before I get my 2nd NL, but what if I am given an interview date that I cannot make it to? What should I do? Will I be given the opportunity to select my interview date?

Yes it is possible.
But the new date can be far in the futur, you cant decide.
you run the risk that no more Visa will be left

I read that some people did it without any problems and got the GC.
Your CN is low so maybe you ll get a new date in 3/4month
I'm just guessing :)
 
We asked once and were told it would take at least 6 weeks to get a new date and again...they don't ask you upfront if the time or date will be good for you. In the last years the 50,000 wasn't reached so you won't have to be scared that they run out of GC but what if you get administrative processing which can takes weeks or month's....

You have to decide and live with the result :)
 
Alright, thanks! I'm just worried it will be too soon and I wont be able to make it. Now I'm regretting not doing AOS instead!! Also, would anyone happen to know if I can chage from CP to AOS if I cant make it for the interview or whether it will be possible to do the interview at a different USA consulate (I chose the one in Malaysia, but if I cant make the date since I'm at school I might be in Spain so I can make it for the interview in that consulate). Any idea?

You can send KCC email to change your interview location to the US. They may direct you what to do or better still give them a call and explain your problem to them.
 
Yes, It is allowed in many countries apart from Bangladesh. You will receive the Second letter - Interview date from the KCC 4 - 6 weeks before the scheduled interview date. That day you will pay the non refundable visa fees and you will face the interview. There they will check your personal, education, medical, police report, affidavit of support and other documents. So some people say they are not ready with the documents and want to postpone the interview date. To this you must contact the consular officer as mentioned in their official web site and do as required. But for Bangladesh people it is clearly stated that they will loose their chance if they didn’t appear for the interview on that particular day.
