Is it possible to a new immigrant coming from india on a gc to find a new job? I am from India. EB5?

But if $1 million is most or all of your wealth, it's stupid to invest it in a single business that you don't have the skill to manage yourself.

In such case, it depends how eagerly such a person wants to immigrate to USA by
EB5 when it is the only option.

I think many PRs via EB1-EB3 have much disdain for PRs via EB5 (maybe vise versa is also true)

Actually, if the person can get a coding job, and given the way the H1 category is going empty, I do not think entering the country will be such a big challenge. Then wait 10 years for the green card through employment and save the million !! If a person is eager to enter, maybe using the skills is the right way to do it.

No. I have enough respect for EB5 investors to know that they are smart enough to not invest $1 million to get a green card if they have no entrepreneural skill and that million is most or all of their wealth.

I just read a newsreport that can make the issue in this thread that can not be more normal.

Many immigrants via EB5 are on welfare now.

Full disclosure : I am an immigrant myself and generally do not go into stereotypes or racism, so this is an experiment / exception. Please excuse if you do not like the tone.

Your post made me google for some interesting news items related to EB5.

Very dangerous trend. US is basically selling the green cards without caring what's going to happen. In the first case, a 'pool' of chinese investors collected their money to sponsor 300 green cards which does not include families. So for USD 150 M they bring in about 1200-1500 people in to the country. Given that China holds 1.2 trillion of US debt, wonder how many people can they bring like this. It does not need to be at a investor pool level, if the government (chinese) starts supporting it, you can take over USA without having to take it over. Of course you will have to and can employ US people ... but these need not be citizens, these can be green card holders themselves so this can be abused to give preference to whoever they want to give preference to. Economic warfare without it being called so. This is the perils of having a weak economy and having huge debt against our biggest friend / competitors.

Whatever may be the necessities of the government in terms of creating jobs, the attitude of the residents is even worse. They seem to be talking about new people being curious about the local economy and hence thinking of adding tourism features to the neighborhood. Wow !! Can the Americans get out of thinking tourism and financial markets and do something real for a change? Rather than being a tour guide, did you ever think of creating something ... creation as in manufacturing? I know the turf is tough, but the big business has lobotomized people so much that they have forgotten entrepreneurship skills. Of course you need people from India and China to come setup business.

If only these initial bulk-EB5s were Arab (Saudi's have a lot of money, they could do it), we would be seeing such an uproar !!

My reason for the outburst ... we do not even care where the money comes from ... a group of people can get together, pool some money and send anyone into USA without the government batting an eyelid !!

A preferred method would be to ask the EB5 immigrants to show the source of their funds (last 3-10 years) so that no organization or government can manipulate the program to their benefit, and also give an undertaking that they will enter in the role of an employer and not as an employee or someone using social services.

I fail to see the glamour associated with bashing metal together. It seems reminiscent of the agrarian ideals of two centuries ago where working in a dirty urban factory was somehow lesser than the noble pursuit of agriculture. The Swiss seem to be the epitome of a good economy today, and it isn't because of cheese and chocolate.

Care to enlighten about swiss economy? All I know is about banks (in news because of US-UBS and India-politicians), tourism ("all" Indian films were shot there in the past), and the cheese / chocolate - fondue food.
