I want to sign my familly up for the lottery. My question is, can it put an already existed tourist visa in danger, or harm your chances of getting one?after all they do ask in the application if you had ever applied
Is it ok to apply?

No entering won't harm you....if you win and apply for the GC it could, but it depends on your status at that time. If you ever have been denied a visa to the USA you might not be able to apply unless you can explain why you were denied.
Most people at one point had a tourist visa....so if that was an issue, nobody could enter.
The people who are going to be entered should be eligible otherwise it is wasting time and the application isn't for free...
