Would you travel in the last week of the visa ? Or is it a risk and better to enter earlier in order to avoid last minute problems, passport damage.. Etc

The only problem I see is that if your trip consists of several flights and you plan to arrive on the last day of your visa validity. If you somehow miss your connecting flight and got hold up for a day, you could arrive after your visa expires.

Having been caught up in travel delays due to weather before we are a little nervous about this - we're travelling in about a month's time. We enter 5 days before expiry and have to hope it's enough!!

The lamination page started coming off on the corners, the passport is heavily used. Can this be a problem? What can i do ?
Do u think i should enter the us before this page comes off completely ?
Or can i get new passpot and keep the damaged one ?

Zamboor, you are getting to be really silly about this. You have been advised to get a new passport from your country if the page really concerns you. If you don't do that, then it's up to the CBP's officer discretion to either accept or deny you. Since we are not CBP officers, none of us can tell whether your passport is acceptable.

How can your passport deteriorate further from it's present condition? Are you handling it every day?

The lamination page with the biographic data on? That could be a flag holding you up for an extra check, though they should be able to verify if the passport is genuine if it has a barcode. It's very odd that the laminate is coming off though...

Not really,But i need to travel more than 5 times before i enter the us. Is ok if i grt a new passport now ? They will cancel the old passport by cutting the edges. Will the visa be valid ?

Get a new passport. The visa will be valid as long as it's not cut.

Make sure you tell them not to damage the valid visa.

I would definitely clarify with your local US embassy FIRST before having your passport containing the US visa invalidated.
Nothing worse than arriving at the border, only to be told that your new passport is valid but your visa is not as it is imprinted on an invalidated passport.

I've entered the US a number of times like this (on B1 but principle the same) - as long as the visa is valid and you have a valid passport you're fine. But nothing wrong with double checking with the embassy.
