Is Green Card still valid?

I've been living with my husband outside of the US since I got my GC, I've only been back to the US once and couldn't stay long due to severe illness. Now after 5 years I am finally well enough to travel and would like to go this summer.
I am concerned that might post some problems for me and they might deport me back to my home country. My husband and I've been married for 10 years but this issue is causing me a lot of distress. Any advice/suggestion would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

I think you should try to apply for a SB-1 returning resident visa. There is no way you can just go back with your green card at this point.

You need to apply for an SB-1 visa at the US consulate, with evidence of your illness over the past 5 years. Otherwise if you try to enter the US with the green card you'll either be sent back to your country of citizenship or ordered to see an immigration judge.

I am applying for the SB 1 but I don't know successful I 'd be. Do you know what is usually the outcome?

There is no "usual outcome" which is of any use to you. Each is evaluated on a case by case basis, and the circumstances of SB-1 applicants vary widely.

it is right that you need to get SB1 visa for your resident visa in US with evidence of your illness. Once your evidence is prove after all checking your green card will be valid to stay in US.
