I just became a U.S. citizen and would like to know if I can offer my Step-Dad a GC.
However, here's the situation:
1. Mom separated from biological Dad when I was 3 months old
2. Mom moved in with Step-dad when I was 3 years old and still lives with him until now (24 years later), although did not legally marry him until this year
3. Mom did not divorce biological Dad until last year because Brazilian laws did not allow divorces, only legal separations until recent years
4. Once legally divorced in Brazil last year, Mom married Step-dad earlier this year
So, technically Mom and Step-dad did not marry before my 18th birthday, however he took care of me all of my life and is considered my real Dad.
So, can I offer him a GC in any way?
Thanks!!
