IO called off my Oath Day on 9/26/08...shocked

I will have to look at those timeline but I think mine is fairly quick from the day I submitted N-400, IL,... to Oath Letter (roughly about 120 days). I dont hold any records of violence
nor criminal, nor owe any monies to tax. I did have some traffic tickets once a while and they were all fully paid: none of them is DUI...I dont see anything wrong with my background. I am an electrical engineer though nowsaday I work on my own business.

Were you born in Australia or did you immigrate there from another country before applying for naturalization?

She looked on the list and found my name but the bad news was they actually pulled me off the list of the day (and I also saw many other names too...). She simply told me that perhaps 'Name Check' or something...You will receive the letter of notice within few weeks from today.

Im so disappointed for what happened but nothing much I can do except waiting...

What a bummer, Aussie! I was descheduled 6 days before my interview, but at least they had the courtesy to notify me by mail.

The way the US economy is going, I'm just wondering if Australia wouldn't be a better bet than the US at the moment... :rolleyes:

I came to Australia as migrant and became naturalized australian. Anyway I got letter from INS that told me to wait for background check...

I wonder if that is the reason for background check delay (ie:naturalized Australian vs born Australian) combined with country of birth.
 
Well not sure with what they do, I think just have to wait for it. Do you have any suggestion ? Make INFOPASS appointment to check? Call FBI to ask them ?...

This is strange. I thought before IL all the checks etc are completed. Is there something else as far as verfication goes that happens b/n the time of Interview and oath?

im glad that i got my Oath Day on Jan 29th....Sing Halleluja to that. Name Check is fairly quick 90 days...Anyway I'm so happy...

See you guys who are at the Ceremony on the same day.
