Inviting Parents to US for a visit

HI,
I am planning to bring my dad and mom for a 2 months visit to US this July. I am here on L1 visa and I have the following questions.

1. During interview I have to submit my last 3/6 months bank statement, so is there any specific amount they look for in my bank account?

2. Since they have to take insurance on a visit to US,is it better to take from india itself or is it better to take from here?

3. How long is the process to get the visa..if they apply online through VFS then the delay period is only till the appointment date or is there any other waiting time? I guess once they get the appointment and approved they will get the visa stamped passport in 3 or 4 days..

4. Since everything can be done online, do we still need to approach any travel agent? is there any advantage of applying through any agent?

thanks..waiting for your response...

My views with regards to I-134 for B-2 applicants are well documented on this forum. They should never be needed. If they are needed, they adversely affect the applicant in my view. Having said that, I am not too sure what (if at all) figure the interviewing consul will be looking for. He/she will be more concerned with regards to your parent's returning to India after their visit.

Ok..does invitation/sponsor letter would help or hurt? Is there such thing as sponsor letter for visitors? If parents are visiting their children, what would be invitation letter about? If it was attending a conference, marraige etc. then I can see how invitation letter would look like.

Has anyone got visitor insurance lately? Where from, costs etc... pls share.

No there is no such requirement. I have only noticed that applicants from south asia reckon that a visit visa to the US needs an invitation from a friend or family member. It makes no sense whatsoever, but amazingly, the myth lives!!!
