Interview scheduled... address conundrum!

Hi there,

I received my interview confirmation letter from the VT service center just 2 days ago, much earlier than anticipated! The date is set for the middle of March.

However, 7 days ago I made a tentative move from the east coast to the west coast and have since secured a 3 month freelance gig and also a room in an apartment (no lease), starting next month.

My N-400 application is associated with my my parents' home address on the east coast... so it seems as though I have two choices:

1) I could fly back to do the interview as scheduled so as not to delay the process (no permanent associations to the west coast make me believe that this would be legit, since on paper it's an extended business trip)

2) I could submit a change of address and respond to the interview letter with notification/proof of this change and request for my interview to take place on the west coast.

Anyone had any experience with a situation like this? I just don't want to screw things up now! It seems like choice 2 would be more prudent, but I'm loathe to delay the process...

I eagerly await your much-needed advice. Thanks in advance!

Do you intend to return to your parents address after the 3 month job is finished?
If so you could truthfully claim that this is still your permenant address, if not I'd go with 2 to avoid lying under oath.

At the interview you'll be required to update your job history, including job location. If you consider this a temporary move then you would let the IO know the details and continue with current process. If the move is permanent and you have no idea if you will move to west coast for good, then you'll have to indicate that as well but your case will then be required to transferred to west coast which will cause delays.

Thanks for getting back to me guys - I would like to be able to stay out here after the assignment finishes, but everything is very up in the air right now. I guess though that it is my intention that matters here... and yes, I don't want to lie under oath! In which case I'm thinking that, inconveniences aside, I should probably go with option #2.

Here's to hoping that it doesn't screw my app up too much!
