Interview Question

Hi everybody, my name is Eric, and I'm currently a college student in New York City.

If everybody could help and asses whether if I have a decent chance of getting same-day oath letter on my interview date, I'd really appreciate it. I'm at a flashpoint right now and I really need to leave New York on 5/27, and my interview is at Federal Plaza on 5/3.

Student (age 20) with 9 years of permanent residence, so will be applying based on 5 year rule.
Leaves country every year for 2 months in the summer to Taiwan, so physical and continuous residency not even close to limit.
Never filed taxes before ...so obviously will not be presenting tax returns.
No criminal record
No marriage

I will have all my forms including SSS proof, school enrollment certificate starting from 2004...(is there anything else I should bring?)

Do you guys think I will be able to receive oath letter on the same day as my interview? I feel like my file is pretty problem-less.

I just need some assurance so I can be more confident on Monday!

Thanks guys!
Eric

Even if you don't receive same day oath you can request for them to schedule your oath until after you return from Taiwan in 2 months. In other words, you can still travel between interview and oath provided it isn't for more than a few months.

The thing is, I plan to go study abroad for a year beginning in September, and this is something that I have been planning for two years.

The best case scenario would be I get the letter on the day of, and my oath is before I leave on 5/27.
The second best case scenario would be my oath is just a couple days after 5/27 ...I will delay my flight and go back to Taiwan a few days later.
The worst case scenario would be my oath scheduled a month or a long time after 5/27, which then I will have to fly back to America for the oath.

So I'm basically asking for the chance of the best case scenario.

How does the process actually work? Do you request the scheduling with the immigration officer, or do we get to talk to the scheduling people? What if he says to me you'll be receiving your letter in the mail in a couple weeks? Can I still request?

You can always request, and it is on them to see if they can accommodate.
You do not meet scheduling people, IO front ends this for you (at least while you are physically in the DO).
