Interview Letter Received !!!

I just received my interview letter this afternoon. Interview is exactly after a month Feb 12th, 2010. Man, feeling bit nervous now. Hope everything will be smooth. With the interview letter there is a standard check list ( guess everybody gets that). In that list one question is " If I were arrested or detained for any reason & even though no charges were filed needs to bring a certified statement from the arresting agency or applicable court indicating no charges were filed. My question is I was detained in my home country due to political opinions which was also a strong ground of my asylum case been approved but I was never been charged nor arrested. Now after all this years almost 17yrs where I can find that kind of statement ? No way!! If asked I must explain that to the interviewing officer. Folks what you think?
Well, need all your prayer.
Thanks.
Atique.

I think they are only talking about being arrested in the US. Are you sure they are asking about arrests all around the world?

Atique, they are only worried about any arrests in the u.s.a. Don't even worry about your asylum now because that was reviewed when you got your gc.

Also just answer what is asked and don't volunteer info. The only issue ex asylees need to worry about is if they have been back to cop. I was asked that & all the folks in my family were asked that.
Just make sure your answers are consistent with what's on your n400.

Lazer, the question is have you ever been arrested or detained? Now if they say ever been that means it happened to me in my home country. As we all know USCIS's questions are not very clear & could make different meanings.
But I agree with you 100% USCIS is more concern about what happened in US not in home country.
Thanks again for your quick response. Looking at your timeline your time's coming sooner than you even think. Good luck.

Thanks want. That's what I thought too as Lazer mentions. USCIS is more concerned about USA. And I simply have no worry about that cause I was never been arrested in my entire 18 yrs time in United States. Also going back to COP won't be any greater deal cause I was only gone for two weeks after 14 yrs of my asylum application.
I filed asylum back in 1993 & finally got approved in 1999 & as you must know got my GC in 2006. Now the time I filed & received GC we are talking about 14 long yrs & obviously my country condition has improved a lot. Does that mean since contry conditions improved I could loose my GC status??

Thanks buddy... I am getting anxious day by day just to apply. I know I am many months away but have already started to feel it.

As "want" mentioned, I also strongly believe they are concerned about USA. Just talk about USA and I am sure you should be fine. Good luck and yes keep us informed.

Atique, dont worry..even if you have been to your COP..its not as black n white. Since the country conditions changed, it is ok in my opinion. Just explain with evidence....you will be fine!

I used to be nervous as hell and my lawyer used to say "Look they let wife beaters, multiple DUI's become citizens so why wouldn't they let you"....Think positive!!

Lazer..you will get there soon bro! Dont be too anxious. I had my envelope ready to go Sep 13th or so..all stamped! but guess what..Sep 6..a family emergency happened and I had to rush off to Europe!! so my application got delayed...well not really cuz I got all done in 75 days or so ;)...so dont be too over anxious ;)

Chong, I myself can't even belive this, since got such bitter experience during GC time. Guess USCIS has improved a whole lot better. Don't worry yours will be quick like all others. Good luck brother.
Thanks for your post.
Atique.

salam alaykum brother

good luck to you brother, dont worry too much

Waalikum Salam my brother. Thanks for your post. I'm not too worried just a little & that's very normal due to the fact that from the asylum application process till GC experiences weren't too good. But the journey is fixing to end hoping everything goes smooth as silk. InsAllah everything will be just fine. I know it will. I have that confidence.
Once again thanks for dropping a line.
Atique.
