In most states, you can do a DL transfer right way. So go get a new DL
in yoru current state and surrender the old one. Some states may need a wriiten test for changing DL that is the only thing you need to take care of

Dont you think it too late. I mean while applying I had other state ID, and on FingerPrint interview I called other state ID. Now if I change the new ID will have the date when it was issued. So I'm confused !

and usually after fingerprint how many days will it take for Interivew any idea ?

You'll have to provide proof of district residency at interview. This is done by showing current ID such as DL or state ID. Also, did you previously file AR-11 with USCIS to let them know you moved?

It does not really matter. Your DL is used as ID purpose. If you carry
your GC, you do not even need to present DL. If the IO want to verify
you really live in the state you claim, then bring your rental agreement,
utility bill etc.

and your DL issue date also apply to the date your DL is re-newed.
So even if you have live in current state for 20 years and if you
renew yoru DL today, you still get today as your DL issue date.

Yes I updated AR-11 every time I moved, but only didnt change DL.

Its 2 months I applied for Naturalization and also done with Finger Print.

Any free consulting attorney contact ?

There is really nothing to consult. It is a simple matter. Just go to DL center to get your DL and surrent your out of state DL. The IO won't pay attention to the issue date of your DL. Even if they do, just explain it well. It will not go as far as that the IO says "the state law reuqires you to get a new DL 30 days within your settledown and it has been over one year so you commited
a criminal offense etc"

But for me I got letter mentioning specially to get State DL or ID. Did you went with other state ID or DL ?

That letter (yellow letter) does not really mean anything. Just use your GC
as ID and most likely you will not need to present DL. Even you need to present
a DL, it really does not matter if you get DL today or tomorrow

I had the same situation for AOS interview and it was not a problem.

Unlike naturalization, AOS does not have 90 day same district residency requirement.
During the naturalization interview the IO goes over the application including part about how long you have lived at current address. It will be up to IO to determine how long an applicant has been at their current address in order to establish 90 day district residency requirement.

Technically DL is of one state and we live in other state.

As Bob is saying the DL is to prove the 90-day residency thing before applying.

When you applied which State did you use on the N-400?

Is that the State office you went to for FP?

Is that the State DO where you have to go for the interview?

My reading of the regs shows you would need a license for the State you used in the application to satisfy the 90-day rule. The IO will want to see something official with an address on it. Your GC does not have an address.

I used current state for N-400 and FP.
Yet to get interview date, got yellow letter today mentioning when you go for interview carry State DL or ID.

I can prove 90 day rule with my apt lease paper, ulitiz bills etc., I guess I better get alteast State ID if no DL. I hv no issue getting DL but rite now I'm jobless dont know when n where I'll move. But mean while if I get interview date I'll stick in this state till interivew. But I wanna make sure State DL or ID should not be any obstacle during interview day.

They will probably want to see a picture with your address.

Do a phone number search for people with your name for all of a State or large City and you will be amazed how many people have that same name that ain't you. :)

A picture paints a thousand words and a State ID from your local MVD should(???) mean you do not have to relinquish your DL and the ID will satisfy the IO request.

I moved-within ca though. I did update online AR11. But my move put me in San Diego DO. My address on DL was the old address and so I took in evidence-my lease contract, utility bills etc. But was not asked at all.

But that is just one I/O. But if you take your bills, lease/mortgage etc, that should prove the 90 days.

But I don't know if out of station license would suffice? My license with address of another D/O jurisdiction was accepted.(In CA they just update the database, they won't send you a new license.)

if interview done how it went?
