Just wanted to share with our interview i and my husband had yesterday. maybe for someone my info will be useful. it was the 1st interview 3 months after sending the papers.AOS based on marriage. . it started at 12.15 and finished around 3.30. Because the lady was mean from the very begging and never smiled, never responded on my husbands jokes- we started being nervous. there were some things she didnt like :
1.why we dont have joint account (we explained that husband prefers using cash and i use accounts for paying bills online)- she seems unsatisfied with the answer
2. why there were no family at the wedding. my husband has no family in the us, all of them in salvador. she couldnt believe we didint invite his relatives. very weird since she knows it costs money and we are not rich.and really has no family in the country
3. we showed her our leases for apart, lots of bills on both names, aaa card, titles with the address- she didint like the sons papers- why you gave me his papers? i dont care that he lives with you. and so on/
so finally she gave us 4 papers with 50 questions. my husband forgot the glasses for reading and she was mad at him for that.we were sitting in dif rooms, took us 2 hours to answer because she requested to put it in details. after that we interviewed me for more 15 min. again. the same questions mostly..she said she needs to go through the papers again, i cant contact them within 180 days. they ll contact us by mail or phone. weird interview.we were prepared and very friendly with her but it seems its not enough.
Good luck guys!

You could still have a joint account and manage it like that.

2. why there were no family at the wedding. my husband has no family in the us, all of them in salvador.
What about your family? Were they there?

If the son is not a child you had together, why did you give her his papers?

You were badly prepared.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It provides a warning for what could happen if people don't do certain things in their life and at the interview.

Agree that you should have had a joint bank account, but I thought the fact that you have leases and many other documents should make up for that.

No one was present at our wedding either. Because I'm in immigration process, it's even more difficult for my family to apply for visa to travel to US.

If you didn't bring your son's documents, I'm sure she would ask for that. You just met a difficult interviewer, that's all.

May I ask what kind of questions are in those "4 page 50 questions"? Thanks.

i dont have my family here either, but there were like 12 people- his and my friends, we had ceremony and reception,as for guests and accounts- i really think its every family choice- you are not supposed to arrange your life the way uscis is asking you. when we married and live for more than 2 yesrs we didnt think what THEY would think..we really had enough of evidence besides these accounts.

as for questions: how did ou spent your holidays, what presents did you give him, scars, education, name all the family, where is the garbage in the house, what dvd model, how many windows, how did you get to interview today, which car, where did you park, how did you spent new year, how many computers, who you live with, who is doing laundry and where, who was at the wedding- names, last names, jobs and relations to you.medical insurance, his and my jobs, daily schedule, last argument, when did you do the grocery last time, what did you buy, how you pay your bills, online or checks?
90% of our answers matched, the only thing is that he described new year that we had 2 years ago, and i did the recent one.
