Gino, Best of luck. Be calm and don't think they are finding excuses. Make sure to put an emphasis on why you are still persecuted in your home country..BUT ONLY IF THEY ASK...DO NOT volunteer information. Answer what is asked. Best of luck and let us know what happens.

Gino,

I was interviewed last year and it really was just a formality. They asked me if I had returned to my former country or used its passport (and if I would do either in the future). It was very relaxed.

Godspeed.

everything should be fine.... just my opinion...

I won't be surprised that they messed up the thing again and backdate 4 years when you receive gc. just like my nd.... when i called in to "confirm" my nd, the woman was like "you don't know when you submitted?", i was thinking "oh well, i am not dumb enough to believe i gave you one year later.".... they assigned LIN01XXXXXXXXXXXX to my 02 case.....

be calm and bring EVERTHING.

Gino,
Please post the interview experience, it would help us alot.
My case is transfered on sept and still waiting from local office notification (for interview?).
how long your gotr interview appt after your case transferred?

relax and calm down.
The best luck for you

Hi everyone, thanks a lot for you best wishes. My interview went very well, it lasted less than 15 minutes. The officer was very nice, he asked me questions from my I-485, mostly my name, address, my date and place of birth, and my parents names. He also asked for my employment letter and tax returns for the past 3 years. I did my medical exam, but he did not ask for the results--I submitted my exam results with my I-485. He also asked for my birth certificate, which I did not have. I have to mail the Affidivate of Birth forms to my parents, who live 1000s of miles away, to fill them out and send them back to me. I have less than a month to submit the forms. The officer told me that he is going to order a visa number for me, and will probably get approved within a month. Let's see what happens. Still not finished!

Hi cantalup,

My case was also xfrd to the local office back in May. The only thing I got from them was an fp notice in Aug. After noticing that the local office processing dates were past mine, I did an info pass, and that how I had my interview appt. sat up for Friday (see my previous post). So my advices is to do an info pass, and then ask them about your case status and this may speed things up. Note that NE will no longer update your online status, so you have to do all your dealings with the local office.

Good luck.

Gino. Congrats. I am glad your misery will be over soon. Just to let you know, I also didn't have a birth certificate..so I had 3 of my realtives submit an Affadavit because my parents were missing...and it was ok. So if you can't get one from your home country...get one from your realtives.

Hi Gino,

I am glad to hear that your interview went well. Again we whish you the best.

Did they ask you before the interview to for the tax returns? otherwise, did you have them when you went to the interview?

In my case the officer asked me to bring my marriage cert (current and previous) along with divorce cert. and photos for the RTD that I told them that I need.

Hope that all what they will ask for,
I will keep you guys posted.

Awesome.
I am glad for you GINO.
Seems like the interview deals pretty much with the technicalities (tax returns, other documents) as opposed to another review of the case.
You guys understand, it wasn't easy to prove persecution in the first place and having to re-prove it is just plain stupid.
I appeared in front of an IJ for a 3 hours long hearing which was psychologically exhausting to say the least.I don't ever want to go through that again in my lifetime.

Now it's your turn BRINGSLITE...let us know how it goes

Gino. Congrats It's nice to hear that your Interview went very well and easy. Hope you will get your GC soon.
Do you like to tell us which City Immigration office you went for Inteview if you don't have any problem.
Good luck to everyone

I have infopass on nov 14th, as you suggested.
you are correct, NE no longer update my case. I called 1-800.... the cust-serv just gave me a hint at last. If I need to know my case status, make a inforpass schedule ohhh well.
Thanks Bringslite.

thanks for sharing the interview experience, Gino. Now I'm feeling comfortable about my interview (soon?:)don't know).

Thanks, wantmygcnow. I scanned the form and send it to my parents, they will be able to get it back to me within a week.

bringslite, in the interview letter, they asked for my employment letter, tax returns, medical exam results, and my wife's employment letter (I'm single!). I took everything that I had. So, make sure you bring to the interview everything they request.

Congrats, you can relax a little now, Gino.

When CIS transferred your case to local office for interview, didn't they transfer your 485 package ( including your old Medical ) ? Otherwise the IO would not have to ask you medical problem. Did you bring a new medical ( sealed ) results to him ?

Did you ask the IO why your case was transferred to local while most asylees are not required ? Did he ask you to show National passport ?

NSC still update case status online. A friend ( also AS category ) got updated on Nov. 3 after receiving RFI. What hint did the 800 guy tell you and when did you call ?
