I am new to this forum. I need your expertise please.
I am a Peruvian citizen, living in Canada with permanent resident status and my spouse is a Canadian citizen. My wife got a job in Boston MA so we plan to move next year. She would be applying for a TN visa while me and our baby would be moving there as her dependents with a TD visa.
My questions are:
1) Me and my wife got married in Japan. Our marriage certificate (in Japanese) needs to be translated to English.
- Do I need to submit a certified translation? or a notarized translation? Would an affidavit suffice?
- Do I need to submit other supporting documents as proof of marriage (photos, wedding invitation, etc)?
2) Can I apply for a TD visa while my spouse is applying for her TN visa status (meaning, her application in process but not finished)? If so, do I need to provide a printed statement of her application as supporting document for my TD visa application?
If I have to apply after she has already obtained her TN status, do I need to provided a copy of her passport with the TN visa as supporting document for my application?
4) As I understand, I need to apply for TD visa via the US embassy in Canada. Does anybody has an estimate of how much time in average the TD visa application process takes?
Thank you very much for your response.
Best regards,
Luis Vega.
