I will definitely do that. Do you know how much time does it take to get those from them my friend? Thanks for help all my friends and I will need more in the road to WOM.

The appeal step to the HQ should take 3-4 weeks tops, my guess. That was my experience anyway. Initially they might send you a letter acknowledging receipt of your appeal and stating they have put you in a queue etc etc. Then in 2-3 weeks you should have a response from the HQ. In that they might also include instructions on how to file a FOIPA with your local FO.

As for FO, you may proceed independently and file much like you did with the HQ. You can google and find out the address of your local FO. In fact each FO maintains a website with their contact info.

Got a standard response from Obudsman's office to my request that USCIS will take a look at my case and should hear from them in the next 45 days.

Letter from VP's Office

In reponse to my letter mailed couple of weeks back, I received a letter from Vice President, Cheney's office. It said:

Thank you for contacting VPfor assistnace in dealing with an agency of the Fed govt. The VP has asked me to respond.

We are forwarding your matter to the Dept of Homeland Sec. .... We have requested that they respond directly to you with a copy to us for our files, and we expect this to be done at the earliest possible opportunity...


Now I am little more hopeful!
 
Received a letter from the senator that had response from the USCIS...

USCIS in a piece of paper that was not even cut straight and was stuck with fact sheet (for background checks) said

The case is pending at this time, going through the name/date of birth security clearance process- check periodically for status.

Ass (_o_) also added date of birth security clearance now...

Look at the bright side..at least they didn't request anal probe :D
 
Another Site

One site had this and I am worried that I will be in this situation for long-long time due to these 15 letters:

I contacted with my local congressman office and asked them to inquire
my name check status. I attach the reply. Is the true that ask
congressman to contact with FBI will delay the name check?

Congressman office's reply

No problem. We will contact the FBI.

Just be aware that each time the FBI is contacted to check a name they
will add that information to their data base and when the USCIS sends
fingerprints your name will get more than one hit which mean that your
name will not be clear for immigration benefits until the FBI does a
manual check on every hit.

3 to 4 years is normal processing time by FBI if a name has one or more
hits.

Read their info to make sure you want this office to send your request
to the FBI.

Are you inquiring about the status of your name check that USCIS initiated with the the FBI or are you asking the congressman to check your name with the FBI ? Name check status requests are initiated with the agency that requested the name check with the FBI, not directly with the FBI so I'm confused as to why the congressman is contacting the FBI and not USCIS instead.
