We applied for my mother-in-law's B2 extension on Feb 12th at VSC. We haven't heard from USCIS & the case status still show as 'Application in initial review'. Her current I-94 expires on April 1st, 2010. We are thinking of getting an infopass apponitment at the local office to request them to expedite the process of extension before April 1st.

Will infopass appointment help in this situation?

kindly suggest.

We are in the same situation too. We applied for my MILs B2 extension on Feb 15th at VSC and her I-94 expires on April 7th. We haven't heard back from USCIS yet. Did you get an infopass? Please keep us updated. Thanks.

we've an appointment tomorrow. I'll keep you updated, but I've a doubt that infopass appointment will have anything to do with B2 visa.

Hi,

We'd an appointment with the IO at a local office & she said that since my MIL's application is pending, she can stay in the US. But if she receives a denial any time after April 2nd( her I-94 expiry date), she'll have to leave immediately on receiving the notice. The number of days she can stay in the US after receiving the notice will be mentioned on the denial notice. Upon asking whether it will be considered an overstay, she denied. Also, it seems she may not have issues on her future visit on the current 10 yr multiple visa as well as future visa stampings.

Personally, I think we are taking a risk by letting her stay here, but my husband thinks that it should be fine. So for the time being, she'll be staying here until we get ant further notice from USCIS.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for the information. Hopefully, your MIL gets an approval and you would not have to worry about anything.

I just hope the reason for the extension request was bullet-proof.

That's great! Was this the 1st time you guys filed for her extension? How often does she come to the US?

In my case, we've filed it for the 2nd time & she's been in the US for more more than 12 months now since the year 2009. As of today, we haven't received any reply for her extension.
