A lot has been written about the interviews for marriages etc., but I am interested in learning how exactly the sibling interview is normally done. I have reached the stage of awaiting my Work Permit and I assume soon after will be the GC interview.

Is it more than one interview & does my sister have to be on hand for this interview, I'm hoping they will give ample notice because my sister will have to fly from New Jersey to here (Florida).

Any info. will be appreciated.

This category requires a many year wait, but the inteview itself is simply to confirm the birth certificate and affidavit of support.

First of all unless specifically specified your sister don't have to be with you at the interview. If you have no complication with your case (like being out of status or any law violations, DUIs, etc.) the interview will be nothing but going through 485 verifying information with you and requests to prove your legal stay here in US.

Awaiting work permit? Have you already waited the 10+ years that it takes to become eligible for work authorization based on a sibling GC petition?

In response to Jackolantern...... yes, my family and I have waited 12 yrs already, original paperwork submitted June 1997, receipt date June 1998, this is why I can say that we've done the biometrics etc. and we are currently awaiting them to post us the Work Permits. We have also already been able to get ID Cards and Driver's Licenses for Florida. I'm just trying to find out what the actual interview process will be like and if my sister who lives in NJ will have to fly here for that interview. My timeline was posted under June AOS filers.

Thanks in advance.

In response to PraetorianX1..... we were not in the USA all the time the paperwork was processing, we came in 2001 on B2 visas and stayed on (valid visas for 10 yrs), so we changed from CP to processing within the country. Some people on the forum had said that we could not file from here because we were not here in Dec. of 2000 but I think because our paper-work goes back to 1997 we are being allowed to.......so far, so good. Waiting to receive the actual Work Permits in the mail, they should be here in another weeks time, then hopefully it will be the final interview for the Green Card which I hope will go just as well as everything else has so far.

This is why I'm trying to find out what sort of questions they ask on the sibling interviews and if my sister will have to fly here (Fl.) for that as she is the main sponsor.

Does anyone know?????

I think you're right, you do qualify for the 245i Life Act without being in the US in December 2000, because your petition was filed in 1997. You only have to prove the Dec 2000 US presence if the petition was filed after January 1998 and before April 30, 2001 (the 245i extension period).

Sorry, can't help you with the interview question. :(

Thanks to all so far on their advice. On August 21st, 2009 checked on status and saw that card production was ordered for Work Permits, ...... so far so good. Hopefully the next step will be the letter with the appointment date for GC Interview.
