Hi I have been reading posts on this forum for a few months and I have found them really useful, so here is my contribution.
We had our interview in London today and it was quite traumatic!!
Our appointment was at 8.00, we arrived at 7.30 to find 40 pepole queuing outside. We got inside the building at 7.50 and were asked to sit down in a massive waiting room, and boy did we wait..... at 9.30 our number was called, we went to the designated counter with all our paper work. I was soooo nervous I thought I was going to pass out!
passports, check!
photos, check! errrr .... "you need 2 pictures for each person mam"
"what??! what 2 pictures?! I thought we only had to give one if we submitted one with our application?"
GUYS, IGNORE THE CONFUSING BLURB ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE LIST OF PAPERWORK TO PROVIDE, UNLIKE ME, MAKE SURE YOU BRING 2 PICTURES, END OF STORY
The gentleman sent us back to our seats where we stewed for another 2 hours not knowing what on earth was going on, could this be over before it even really started because of 2 stupid photos? everybody was overtaking us and I could not concentrate on anything else but the screen with numbers.
2hrs later, the same guy called for us and asked us togo to the cashier and part with our money (still not knowing what the heck was going on.... not a nice feeling!)
back to the guy, 3x $775 lighter and we start handing out all documents, originals, copies, translations , etc....
And back to our seats we go for another... 1hr and a half!!
All diversity visa candidates had gone by then when we were called again. An extremenly nice and friendly gentleman spoke to us and asked us a few questions such as , "where did you go to uni? what do you do?" and then said, "I have read your file and all is in order, I will approve your visas, welcome to the family!"
I was so overwelmed, tired, relieved and happy that I literally burst out crying!! (great...)
6 hours in total but all worth it though, I have not stopped smiling yet
