I wish to update that I have requested Wachovia bank to open a checking account in the name of 'Immigrationportal.Org'. I expect to get today an account number and wire transfer information so those who wish to make contributions by check or make a transfer can be able to do it. Meanwhile I will get signature cards and other forms from the bank and have them signed by designated signatories. However, this should not stop any one from issuing a check in favor of 'Immigrationportal.Org' as his/her contribution for the fund. Friends,
This "immigrationportal.org" is our organisation. It is started by forum members like you. So it's your baby. Please feed money to your infant baby. The recommended amount is $200 (debate is welcome). We will publish the names (user names) and the amounts contributed, on a separate thread. All the core team members are actively involved in the new organisation.

Mission
---------
1) To help improve all the immigration laws governing legal immigrants, by sending representation to the US congress.
2) To help reduce backlogs for all types of legal immigration
3) To fight all kinds of discrimination against legal immigrants
4) To enable the employment based legal immigrants to obtain citizenship after working here for 5 years (instead of waiting for 5 yrs after GC)
5) To offer financial/legal help to legal immigrants who are victims of wrongful/hasty action of USCIS.

Note : The term legal immigrant was used to mean "Any immigrant
who resides legally in USA and has not yet obtained citizenship of USA".

You guys can copy the above text, modify it and post the refined version. Some one can start discussion on rules and regulations (i will start it later if no one starts it).

This group is formed by folks like you with a goal of helping legal immigrants.

So please contribute generously so that the efforts of the organization will help not only you but others down the years as well. These efforts will go a long way in addressing issues like 485 delays that TSC has faced and could very well face if they decide to go back to their old self again.

My two cents: $200 is about what one would pay for 3 to 4 weekends of dinner and movies for 2 people. So please donate more.

immigrationportal.org website is under construction. We are working to bring it up as soon as possible.

On the website You are going to see pretty much what you are seeing on this thread. Please understand that this immigrationportal.org is started to raise funds for immigration reforms and started by CORE team members, which are active members of this forum. They are active members, few of them even approved but still want to fight and work with us.

What you need to understand is it is work in progress. We just registered the website, opened the bank account and registered the orginaization. Bringing up website is the next thing and we are on it.

The funds are going to be used for Advertisements to support our lawsuit, website maintainance etc. A more detailed activities list will be posted soon.

All those names in the list are real ones. In some places it is only first name.Every one will see full names once website is ready in day or two., at the most a week as it is also developed by some of the volunteers in this group.It is going to be totally transperent to every one.

A great day for legal immigrants

Hi Every One,
We, the Core Team of this forum, are pleased to announce the arrival of immigrationportal.org, a new organization to fight for the causes of legal immigrants.

We anticipate our activities to include matters such as, working with the United States Congress for improving the immigration laws, working with USCIS for reducing the backlog of all types of immigration applications, working with the state and federal agencies to fight the type of discrimination cases we have seen with New Jersey DMV, etc.. To achieve all these results, we need a strong organization with enough funds so that we can pay for the legal and other organizational expenses.

We believe, one of our first goals should be to hire a full time, professional employee/contractor to work for us. Having a professional person working for us 7/24 will help our cause a great deal. So we ask every one to go to our new website www.immigrationportal.org and donate money for this, your cause. Let us not passively tolerate injustice. We must act.

Let me add a little bit of background to this organization. For the past 9 months, we have been discussing ways to fight the I485 backlogs. About 4 months back, we decided to take a long term approach for this problem and started working towards forming an organization. Rajiv S. Khanna, our host, helped us in registering the organization and he has accepted to be present as a director in the board. The other members on the board of directors are : 140_takes_4ever, ayansgp, dsatish, Edison, frantic, kash777, Kashmir, MrCoolz, rajum, tr22 and yjay. The actual names of these people can be found on the website. All these people have been actively working in the VSC/CSC/NSC/TSC I485 forums for the past year and more. We (the board members) will not take any remuneration and we will not claim any reimbursement for the time we have spent on the activities. We are doing it as a service and what motivates us is our passion and excitement of starting perhaps the first organization to work for the rights of legal immigrants. This organization belongs to all the legal immigrants. The name and the URL of the organization have been licensed from Mr. Khanna at the fee of one dollar ($1.00) per annum. His office is providing the initial facilities such as phone, fax numbers and street address. Note that nobody owns this organization and every year, the board members will be elected by the registered members of this people’s organization.

We are ready to answer any questions. Please visit (y)our website and donate generously. Most of the core team members have donated $200 each, but there are no rules governing how much every one should donate. Please donate according to your wish and keep visiting the new forum for discussions about our activities. Please participate actively.

I contributed and did not link my immigrationportal user name to the name I used in PayPal...
So Shy users can also contribute. Unless you give your 200 dollars we will never make USCIS to behave...
