Immigration options

Hola everyone,

I know this is a lil' off-topic but I'll still ask. My gf is German, she came few weeks ago on a WVP. She was au-pair previously and she loves USA. Does anybody know what are her legal options here. Some kind of work visa or something? Does she have any options? Thanks

Probably I don't understand very well...you are saying that your gf is German...but your signature says that you are married with a USC?

She has a friend who is a girl. The term girlfriend can be used by women to refer to a female friend, without any romantic implications.

Unless she has a degree and a willing employer or a US citizen husband/fiance, there are few options for her.

I forgot entirely about it...hehe, me bad :). I know that the term can be use for both issues, and she said that it was off topic since it was related to a friend not to a family member...I am doing other stuff here.

Unless she has degree or professional experience, work visa is difficult. Probably F1 is the easiest.
BTW, she can not change status from VWP to other non-immigrant status. She needs to get visa stamp no matter what non-immigrant status she will obtain.

Can she apply for a B1 visa while she is here? I thought F1 would be the best thing for her.

I think F-1 is the best choice, since it grants the most "privileges" with a non- immigrant status (i.e. work authorization & SSN).

No, changing to other non-immigrant status from VWP is not allowed.
She needs to enter with B1 or F1 visa.
