Immigrant Visa Consular processing for Mother

I think is a good idea to file before you leave for Iraq.
About changing address, I don't know how it works for you guys in the Army!?! Are they gonna send you the answers and any correspondence to Iraq? What if you need to send extra evidence? How you'll do that?

Weel we have militayr APO addresses where we recieve the mail, however, the question is how can I change it with the reckless CIS. I-130 asks for a home address, and their mail is not forwarded. Therefore I have to file a change of address with them when I get to Iraq. I however don't know how I can work that out or if it's even plausible in the first place.

The only thing I have an issue with at the present time, is a copy of all my w-2s and tax returns. I have none.

For I-130 you don't need W-2 and tax returns. And your mother is not here to file an I-485, with Affidavit of Support and all nine yards...

Is the CP done concurently with I-130, like in the case of I-485? I'm not familiar at all with that procedure.
:o

CP Processing

Publicus & Suzy,

In CP the first step is to file I-130 with the applicable service center. When I-130 is approved, CIS forwards it to NVC (National Visa Center). From that point on, NVC takes over. It sends fee bills and required forms one at a time. When all the steps with NVC are completed, it forwards the entire file to the applicable consulate overseas to schedule interview.

I don't think I'll ever need these info since my parents are here in the US, but I definitely appreciate your answer, and I'm sure this is exactly what my friend Publicus was looking for.

Thank you for reply

Great links...Thanks.

I have a question. I have only a faxed copy of a translated copy of my birth certificate. Can I use it by itself, or do I need the original?

A birth certificate can be translated by anyone who is fluent in English and your native language, including yourself. Is advisable to have it translated by another person, but here are people (I believe Anahit is an example) who translated the documents themselves and wasn't any problem with that.

On the other hand, to answer to your question, I think, for now, a copy should be OK. But a second opinion on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
