I'm worried about

Dear Friends,

Like some of you, I have had my permanent Green Card since 2005, and I'm living in los angeles.

I am planning on applying for my US citizenship in 2010.

Unfortunaltely, something happened today.

I drove though a STOP sign without stopping. A police officer stopped me, gave me a ticket.
Basically the ticket says that I have to appear in the "superior Court" about 2 months from now... and the violation code is 22450 (a) for "failure to stop at a stop sign".

I'm very worried about this -- that it may have a bad effect on my future application for US citizenship.

(The reason why I'm worried is b/c I heard that traffic violations - such as getting a DUI may hurt your chances at citizenship).

This is all new to me (I've never had to go to court for a traffic violoation - b/c I've never had a traffic violation in the United States).

Thank you very much for your comment.

I'm pretty worried about this.

Thank you

Have a happy thanksgiving.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. Can you please comment if this will have any negative impact on a citizenship application?

The ticket did say that I needed to appear in court for an "infraction".

Most traffic violations including not stopping in stop sign, which you suppose to do, have no impact at all on GC or citizen application. If you look, for example, at the I485 application form there is a question like: Have you been ever arrested or convicted in any crime other than traffic violation?. Do not worry but take care from all stop signs after that.
