Hi, If You Receive The Immigrant Visa After Successful Interview With The Consular Officer. As Far As I Know, You Should Travel Within 6 Months. But What Happned If You Decide To Travel After The 6-months Period Of Getting The Immigrant Visa? Will U Loose The Green At All?

Thanks

If you don't enter the US within 6months, you have a very expensive sticker in your passport that you can only use to show your grandkids the chance that you have not used.
You HAVE to enter the US within 6months, however, you can always go back to your home country for a while to get ready for the real immigration.

Are You Saying That It Will Not Be Possible For The Individual To Immigrate Even If He Has Valid Excuse As To Why He Could Not Travel Within The 6 Months Period Of Getting The Visa?

The first trip activates your green card, so even if you are planning to move to US after six month you need to surrender the envelop containing your immigration documents to the USCIS at the port of entry, which means that you need to travel to US even for a couple of days. The visa will serve as a temporary green card for one year once it is activated.

6 months is a long time... you can tell them whatever story you'd like, the immigrant visa is worthless after it expires.

No one can tell for sure... depends on the immigration officer... In general, if it is less than a year, you should be fine (but don't cut it too close), if it's more than a year, you should definitely apply for a re-entry permit before you leave US. Personally, I wouldn't wait longer than 6months.

Cant you just flying in for few days out of that 6 mths? Just for the sake of getting the GC activate? Like Igmu said 6 mths is a long time.

After that if you need to be in your home country for another 12 mths, you still can do that however if you plan to stay in your home country for more than 12 mths you need to fill out I 131 (re-entry permit) before you go back.

If you can prove you cannot use the visa until it expires because of circumstances beyond your control, you can exchange your immigrant visa for a new one within the same fiscal year only. You have to pay all visa fees except the lottery surcharge.
