can i still travel to malaysia and come back on the original multiple entry stamp (valid until 2004)? Or do i need to get a new multiple entry for company B?

It is always advisable to come in company B\'s H1 stamp. What if the POE INS officer asks for proof of employment (they do this randomly ..) and you give a different employer\'s paystubs or if the previous employer sent a H1 cancellation letter to INS... Just being cautious would not hurt.

So do i need a new multiple entry stamp?

Coz the last time i went back to Malaysia to get a multiple entry visa (December 2001-January 2002), it took all together a total of 25 days and i dont want to go through that nightmare again!!

RE:So do i need a new multiple entry stamp?

Per INS rules, you need to get your current working company\'s H1B stamped when you\'re entering USA. The first question any immigration port authority will ask you is "are you working for the company stamped in passport?".

Multiple entry/Single entry is determined by the visa issuing officer(ofcourse we prefer multiple entries).

Since i just went thru the 20 day wait period, .....

Does anyone know if i have to go thru it again?

Another question i have is the following.....

Currently i am laid off, my new h-1 will possibly be effective from August 2002....Coz thats when the job starts....

In the meantime, should i switch to h-4 first?

Can i go to Malaysia and apply for both h-4 and h-1 multiple entry?

Just because you went thru the 20 day waiting period does not mean that you need not have the multiple entry stamp. However if your vacation is very short then you can tell the officer at POE.
If you are going to have a gap in employment, it is better to get the new multiple entry stamp.
You cannot have 2 different visas at the same time. You have to apply for only one. However, you can get the H1 visa in anticipation of journey into US before Aug 2002 (i.e. visa is effective from Aug 2002 but you get the stamp earlier..)
