If EAD renewal does not arrive in time

Wanted expert opinions on 2 situations-

1. If the EAD expires and the decision on renewal of EAD is not made by INS and it is <90 days since the appl. is filed, I understand that you cannot work until one gets the new EAD. Is it possible to go on leave without pay for that time or is it necessary to resign? Is there any other workaround? Anybody in a similar situation.

2. If an EAD expires and the renewal EAD is approved (online status) but the approval notice and card is not recvd, is it possible to continue working.

Thanks-

If your EAD expires and you do not have a new EAD, you can be on unpaid vacation, no need to quit the job.

Even if renewal is approved, you need the actual EAD to continue working. Even EAD approval notice is not sufficient.

Thanks for the response.

Getting back to pt. 2, i.e.
If an EAD expires and the renewal EAD is approved (online status) but the approval notice and card is not recvd, is it possible to continue working.

- If EAD is approved, and card has not arrived is it possible to get a temp card from INS office.

if the EAD is approved, you can print the approval page from the BCIS online status checking webpage and continue to work.

You cannot get interim EAD when the card is on its way.
If the card does not reach you, call the 1800 number and initiate a service request.
If it is more than 30 days from the service request and you have not received the EAD, send a new EAD application (you can do this online) and with the receipt go to the nearest district/sub office and try to get interim EAD.
