Renewal filed on January 21
Current EAD expired on 04/01.
Story
Day 1:
Stood in the line at 5:30 AM. Reached the window at 8:30 AM.
BCIS Response : We have already taken in enough people to service today. Please come at 6 AM tomorrow with this orange slip , you will be allowed in early without having to wait in the line.
Day 2:
Stood in the line at 6 AM. There were 50 more people with the orange appointment slip. Reached the INS officer window at 7:15 AM.
BCIS Response: Office took original I-765, Copy of the DL, Copy of the I-485 receipt and gave the I-765 expedite notice. I was asked to appear after a week at 8:30 AM to get my interim iEAD
Day 9:
Reahed the BCIS EAD dept at 8:25. Left my expedite notice in a tray.
BCIS Response: I was called after 15 minutes for a picture and office handed me the interim card around 9 AM.
The card is only valid for three months. Once I asked why the card is not valid for 8 months. The office guessed that it is possible that other office may have seen the printing activity for my EAD application. That is why your interim card is for 3 months.
2nd thing to notice is the interim card is not effective back dated. Go figure
Bottom line: It took 9 days to get me an iEAD in Houston that too which is valid for only three months. There are all the chances that I have to stand in the line after 2 1/2 months again to get another interim card.
