We should try to have Caps Removal attached to another one of these immigration bills that are being proposed, especially that they are more positive ones. There are at least 2 bills that some senators tried to attach to H.R. 1268 - One is AgJobs, and the other I am not sure how to call. We should try to have caps remove to any bill. I personally would lot recommend to attach to a bill the the Real Id - but hey republicans over here, please always feel free to attach it to any bill that this conservative government may pass.

Fire alarm over here .... will continue.

Please reply with more ideas.

It is a good idea. The key is getting a member of Congress to be a champion of the asylee cap removal. They could pass it as a stand-alone bill or attach it to something less controversial than the READ ID Act.

We need to contact representative Andrews of New Jersey to include this issue in his immigration bill.

We should know that asylee cap removal WILL NEVER be passed unless provisions are made to "tighten" asylum Laws. For instance if a bill is passed that NO MORE ASylum ..they may pass the NO CAP law...The real id bill was basically "NO MORE ASYLUM" so it had the nO asylee cap provision.

I think many of the politicians think if they removed asylee cap, it would give other people to apply for asylum since it would be easy way in the system..Right now if someone hears it takes 12 years to get a G.C, they may just not go through the asylum way...

So u r saying that a lot of people applies for asylum through using documents just to legalize in USA?

And to contradict myself..the politicians dont know that even if there was a cap..Many ppl would rather be legal than illegal...

great ideas too guys.

... false alarm at the university where I study.

Great ideas guys. Whenever we hear anything about a bill that is being written, we, as a group, AND individually (without waiting for the group to organize) should keep the pressure on polititians. We should write to those senators or congressman IMEDIATELLY to see if they can include removal of caps on their bills. I did write a couple times at least, 1 to Kennedy and 1 to a Republican (for got his name) to include removal of caps a while back b4 Real ID was proposed.

It would really help if anybody here is connected to tell our stories to TV NEWS - CNN, Fox, PBS, the 3 main networks or whatever. This way we might be getting more people to write to senators and congress persons. Even the president (and I am not the biggest fan of his) agrees that removal of caps have to go.

Frankly I am not the most organized person, but we can't depend on bills like Real Id, it is controversial and may not pass. Sure anything can change, and the bill get passed next week or whatever. Part of me, reallly don't want it to pass. Anyway....

One recommendation, whenever we write, we should always do with respect. A nasty letter with F@*% this and F#$* that will probably not help.. Be assertive but be diplomatic at the same time. One thing about model letters, they may not work because they are not personalized. Always try to personalize it.

I know, there is a lot stuff that I'm probably not aware of past actions people here took. I've been reading this forum for the last year, maybe year and a half. So forgive me if I am repeating some things that might have been suggested in the past.

Articles like this (are great!), mention a lot of names of congress persons and/or senators that may become our allies – I think the article mention Sen. Lieberman for example; we can make these guys become more pro-active with our cause of removing the caps. When things look grim, that’s the time we have to think positively, and keep things forward. I do that in my personal life, frankly many times it works (not always). Sounds like cheap and crappy philosophy, I know. Whatever works. We have to contact them.

I never thought of Lieberman too much, but he may be a good person in the democratic side; for sure we need some one very strong (and friendly to our cause) on the republican side.

Any ideas here guys.

Let's keep bugging these people (in a very nice asservie and diplomatic way) until we get what we want.
