I90 renewal was denied- is my Permanent Residence still valid?

Hi,

My daughter I90 renewal was denied (we tried to renew after her 14th birthday). The Permanent Residence expiration date is 2032.
Is it still valid even if I90 was denied? I was not able to find documentation.

Thanks,
Osnat

We received the appointment letter after the appointment had already passed, and we never received the letter for the second appointment at all.

We then received a notice stating that the I-90 application was either abandoned or denied.

I understand that the permanent residency status itself remains valid and unaffected. I plan to address the denial/abandonment issue within the next few weeks, but my immediate concern is an upcoming vacation where we'll need to exit and re-enter the United States. I'm uncertain how immigration officers will respond when they see a denied I-90 application on my child's record.

The card should be fine to use, but to be on the safe side you may want to file another i90 to show them if they bring it up. From your description it sounds more like the application was deemed abandoned (because you didn’t show up for the interview) rather than denied for cause.

FWIW it’s not the same situation, but we just forgot about the 14th birthday rule and my kid traveled on her green card until about age 16 with no issues, then we realized we needed to renew and did at that stage. I don’t remember her needing an interview for that though.
